Digital Forensics European network 'DIGforASP' holds third Working Group Meeting in Malta

October 20, 2019

More than 50 specialists in Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, Law Enforcement and related fields addressed the results achieved in recent months to create an intergovernmental network for the coordination of scientific and technical research in the EU.

The Valletta Campus of the University of Malta last week hosted the Third Working Group Meeting (WGM3) of the European DIGital FORensics network: evidence Analysis via intelligent Systems and Practices (DigForASP), coordinated by the University of Cádiz. This initiative is the largest European intergovernmental network for the coordination of European scientific and technical research in the field of digital forensic science, with the participation of more than 180 specialists and researchers from 34 countries.

Jesús Medina, Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Cádiz and coordinator of this Network, opened the event which had the objective of identifying and consolidating synergies in the fields of digital forensics, Artificial Intelligence and Automated Reasoning, to establish a new paradigm that will enhance and optimise results in data recovery and investigation processes.

The three day programme included parallel working sessions and conference sessions delivered by University researchers, specialists in digital forensics and security forces from various countries.

This project is supported by the European Cooperation Program in Science and Technology (COST), funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union, which seeks to strengthen scientific and technical research in Europe by financing the establishment of collaborative networks among researchers.

In this COST Action, Malta is represented by Dr. Joseph Vella at the University of Malta, Faculty of ICT and Mr. Kenneth Bone, Managing Director at Seasus.
